What type of television connection are you planning in the new single-family house?

Football is now also streamed, but yes, there is a time delay. The myth of the loudly cheering neighbor ... well, I haven't experienced that yet. I don't live in a prefabricated building; here I don't hear neighbors through a wall.

Coax cabling in the house is dead capital. You can't do anything else with it except transmit SAT/cable TV. Better lay more LAN cables and install hotspots.

The satellite dish is ugly.

Modern TVs can already do IPTV "natively" without Amazon/Google/Apple sticks. You shouldn't always just think of Entertain with the forced box (which now also exists without and without a Telekom connection). The big advantage of, for example, Zattoo is that for 10€ you already have all HD channels included, parallel streams on any devices (living room, in the bathtub on the tablet, on the terrace, possibly even at friends') available. You can't achieve that even with SAT, where each receiver/TV needs its own HD+ card. The running costs in this scenario clearly favor IPTV, not to mention the saved investment.

Yes, you are really right. The only thing that annoys me about IPTV and the whole now-standard SmartTV thing is the collection of user data (who watches which channel and for how long? Which ads do they watch or skip?) and possibly the sale of this data. I wouldn't want to start a fundamental discussion about who likes to have which data collected about them and who doesn't. I try to avoid using apps that collect and sell data about me without asking, as long as it can be avoided without huge effort. I haven't really dealt with the SmartTV and IPTV topic yet, but it feels like the ideal framework for user data collection, or is it possible to (easily) circumvent that?

We have switched to IPTV over Wi-Fi in the new apartment. Why? I can place the TV wherever I want and do not have to orient myself to any cable sockets, empty conduits, or anything else. For this, we have a small TV box from Vodafone, which you cannot see because we mounted it on the back of the TV.

That is completely correct and a general flaw of streaming, not just TV. Netflix and co. know exactly what you watched, when, and how.

In fact, TV broadcasters already do this via the "classic" transmission methods as well; you can google "SilverPush." It is called ultrasound tracking. Ultrasound tones are embedded in TV commercials, which are picked up by hundreds of Android apps that have integrated SilverPush without the user's knowledge. This way, device boundaries can be overcome.

I didn't know that until now. Maybe I didn't want to know it either Haha although, the circuit board of my almost 10-year-old Panasonic plasma has been emitting a high-pitched humming sound with bright images for the past few years. I think that disturbs the ultrasonic tones and therefore no SilverPush is currently happening in my house

As Rick already wrote, there is quite a bit on the topic:

https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/sat-Anlage-bei-Neubau-noch-notwendig-oder-iptv-ausreichend.30340/

IMHO it's best to take everything. Fortunately, the technology is affordable and everything can be had for a few thousand.

SAT for fast and high-resolution television. Cable LAN for a media center/NAS/projector/Netflix etc., and good Wi-Fi then for mobile devices to also have music or image transmission in the garden/terrace ready for certain occasions.
