What type of television connection are you planning in the new single-family house?

Fiber optic here in the countryside – that will still take generations! We are glad to have gotten a vectoring connection with 100Mbit/s download. There was a discount for booking the package. Telekom took 15 months to lay the line to the house, manholes had to be dug up in the streets, joints opened, and double cores switched. That was quite a drama.

I believe fiber optic is more widespread nationwide in rural areas than in metropolitan areas. I live in the Telekom capital and at my employer’s place on the same street as Telekom’s headquarters only 16mbit is possible. but to my question, did you get the house connection discounted by 800€ or did you have to pay for the entire installation, including on public land?

Was just about to say. We also live in the countryside and tomorrow the 250mbs connection will be activated. It could have gone up to 1 gbs. But that was a bit too much for me.

So I would definitely take both because you always have a fallback option. From my own experience I can tell you: With Sat I already had picture outages during heavy thunderstorms and with DSL two years ago a car at the location ran over the main distributor (3 days no DSL phone Netflix) and a year ago an excavator destroyed the main fiber optic cable of the whole district (2 days no DSL). Currently it is like this that the DSL connection is very good but the servers at various streamers are going down because everyone is doing the same thing.

2 or 3 days without TV is always the end of the world.

We also have fiber here in this small town, it cost €800 (-€300 because of the Telekom contract). I have now taken the smallest possible package, so 50MBit. It is 1000 times better than a 200MBit copper line from Vodafone! Ping is great and stable, no connection drops and two TV streams with online gaming is no problem.
