For 30 euros you can already get a nice bamboo parquet, certainly more pleasant to the touch than any laminate, no matter how expensive it may be.

Tactile feel is overrated, at least my feet are not that picky. Otherwise, it’s also a matter of taste; with laminate you have clearly more and different designs, colors, etc. than with parquet and the like (only vinyl can compete).
In the children's rooms, we use it for the look and because it doesn't have to last forever.

Hi,

we also have laminate flooring in the house we are currently renting, probably in the lower price range.

So far the laminate is even withstanding the little one's sliding car, I hope it will last until November...
But I have a question about cork: Can it even be combined with underfloor heating?

Best regards,

Andreas

I do, because it is – reduced to the essentials – nothing more than resin-soaked paper on a carrier material. Certainly inexpensive and quickly installed in a DIY setting, but also very sensitive when it comes to falling household items/toys. Unfortunately, it is also not repairable; laminate is especially bad with water.

I still remember the 90s well, when everyone had to lay laminate in their apartments because it was quick and cheap to very cheap. Every step echoed on the laminate … horrible … maybe that’s why I don’t like it either; anyway, it’s not coming into my house.

Today there are better laminates in terms of quality, selection, and impact noise; they are still sensitive and therefore arguably unsuitable for children’s rooms. In my opinion, industrial laminate is an option here. However, it is priced so far apart from “good and evil” that parquet – with all its renovation possibilities – comes across as a real bargain.

There are very good alternatives to laminate if it shouldn’t be a classic wood or tile floor – for example cork or a nice carpet.

Rhenish regards

So carpet is out of the question for us, we will take a look at cork as an alternative and have one or two samples sent over. The choice for laminate was also financially motivated, and you really get annoyed with a more expensive floor if it gets dents. And you can then replace it after a few years.

But as I said: we will now take a look at the alternatives.
