Here also carpet in the children's rooms, the upper floor hallway + bedroom including underfloor heating. We love it! A dream for the kids... always a warm bottom, simply cozy playing possible. I never want to get out of bed shortly after 5 a.m. again and set my feet on a dreadful laminate floor. We hate laminate... that noise when walking... ugh!

Hehe.... I feel the same way, ph710
The sound of walking on laminate always sounds so "cheap," no comparison to parquet, carpet, or tiles, in my opinion. And no... this is not meant to sound spoiled or anything... on the contrary, in the old house we had simple OSB boards as the floor for years and even this "primitive" material felt more pleasant than laminate!

And yes, you can get used very quickly to the nice soft feeling of carpet after getting up
When I think back to years of freezing cold floors in the old house, I am so very happy and grateful to finally be able to live in our wonderful dream house!

Good that many things are also a matter of taste, right?

"die eiskalte Fliese"
"der verranzte staubige Teppich"
"das billige Laminat"
"das rutschige Parkett"
"das hässlichen Kork"
"das chemische PVC"

or also

"die praktische Fliese"
"der wohlig warme Teppich"
"das stapazierfähige Laminat"
"das edle Parkett"
"das fußgesunde Kork"
"das stylische PVC"

Hello,

well, there is indeed a difference between walking on laminate (which we have in the basement rooms) or on real wood parquet (attic floor except the bathroom).

Basically, it really seems to be the case that carpet is actually much better suited for house dust allergy sufferers than the common opinion suggests.

Our vacuum robot "Dobby" regularly takes care of the already described dust-lint balls (which can actually be extremely annoying), so we no longer have any problems with them.

Ultimately, I think that, depending on personal preference, carpet, parquet, or even tiles can be laid in the bedroom with a clear conscience – with underfloor heating, there should no longer be any problem with "cold feet" on any of the mentioned floorings.

Regards,

Dirk

I am also allergic to house dust and have installed a good carpet from Vorwerk in the bedroom. I already had that in the old apartment and had no problems with it. I would not have had laminate or even tiles in the bedroom either, and I am now familiar with the statement that carpet is better for allergy sufferers. Back then, as a child, the doctor still recommended the opposite to me, but that was 35 years ago. I do not have underfloor heating in the bedroom, but that should not be a problem either if the carpet is suitable for it. The only disadvantage is vacuuming; as an allergy sufferer, you should have a vacuum cleaner with a proper filter. Basically, though, it is a matter of taste. Depending on preference and sensitivities, everyone has to decide for themselves.

Wow, to be honest, I didn't think there were so many carpet lovers here! We actually hate laminate too because of its dust-attracting effect... we were just worried about the house dust issue. But now I'm convinced – bedroom and dressing room definitely carpet, possibly also office, children's room, and hallway. Do you notice anything with underfloor heating, that the carpet gets warm? Or that your energy consumption is very high? What room temperatures do you have?
