You keep something like that in the kitchen drawer to get any movement at all.

exactly, in the kitchen. among other things because it is closed with a door and my cats can't get to it then (they open drawers and cabinet doors, also normal doors, but that's why we have raised handles)

With us, snacks and sweets, if they are ever bought at all, are ALWAYS hidden. Otherwise, they would be eaten immediately! My daughter even has her own safe in her room, so her brother can't eat any of her supplies.

My mother used to have a compartment with sweets in the bedroom a long time ago, and we always had to ask before we were allowed to take anything. Families and their customs are just that different. We can only share different experiences here, and you have to choose what suits you.
