You have to be somewhat wise about it. Whether I want to live on the ground floor or with stairs, or even with a basement, is not about fashion but about basic attitude. Whether I want a bathtub or just a shower, whether two bathrooms are necessary, whether a dressing room, an open kitchen or a separate room, whether the bedroom faces north or south, whether floor-to-ceiling exits are only in the living room or also in other rooms—none of this has to do with fashion but with need and what you can afford. Fashion is furniture, wallpaper, etc. When it comes to tiles, roof tiles, windows, and the like, I would never glance at fashion—think of the Bahama beige bathrooms of the 80s—but always rely on timelessness. White tiles, earth-colored floors, white windows, that is ALWAYS modern because never fashion! You then set the accent with carpet, lighting, picture, piece of furniture, wall colors. Pleated blinds. Those are the variables. Karsten

To be honest, I would never think of planning 3 years, or even 5-6 years, in advance... that would only increase my stress level! As bibo said, it also strongly depends on what kind of plot you get, and I say from experience, it gets harder and harder to get one at all over the years, and then you shouldn't be too picky. You already roughly know what you imagine beforehand, and over the years the state of technology changes, not just the taste. And coordinating with your partner so early? Who knows if you'll still be with your partner in 5 years. You definitely need time for planning, but not every corner in the house has to be perfectly planned.

Don't plan, but you can already use the time and start coordinating. That way, you won't have to discuss absolute no-gos later. Maybe you can already find an agreement now.

When planning, a healthy balance is needed. The first "best" option should not always and everywhere be chosen if one has not even considered alternatives yet. But the more one plans, the more detail-oriented one is, the more certain it is that something will go wrong and then cost a lot of nerves because one had imagined it quite differently at some point. Or over time and with more knowledge, one has to learn that the original idea with the chosen materials is not feasible or something simply does not work technically the way one thought amateurishly.

You have already been informed about this through this forum: the car can also stay outside, the garage is needed by the man for the workbench and the Pirelli calendar

that’s what I mean by planning. planning already now means no stress for me. I have time until it gets serious. I surf here and there on the internet, read and write here in the forum, and take in all sorts of experiences from others.
