I think so too. We are the kind of plebs who just built with normal sockets. Then I discovered the convenience of charging pads and since then I’ve preferred to just throw my phone on the thing without plugging in any connector.

I didn’t consider that at all. Great point. Get rid of cables. Place device down and charge. That’s what it will come down to.

Sorry, but I’m just mentioning some data from current high-end smartphones. You’re “bothering” with announced technologies to charge phones in 15 minutes, and then you deny the rest by claiming that you can’t get your devices fully charged overnight with them. Aha, alright. Why would they, Apple has been charging with more than 2A for 7 years. If that is a short period ("until recently") for you, then I am indeed relieved. Charging the phone overnight is good enough for me for the next years. Honestly, what do I want with devices that don’t last 24 hours? Sure, simple cable with USB-A plug on one side and USB-C on the other. Fits in. It really doesn’t get any simpler. Aren’t they all on a USB cable by now? Edit: Yes, apparently they all are. So I can’t accept that argument :D

No no, the "next" cable will be USB-C/USB-C. Simply because no one can agree on a standard. Take a look at the evolution of USB-C. Pure chaos.

I don’t understand, I can already buy them as a temporary solution, right? In all combinations of USB-A, USB-B, USB-C, Micro, Mini, etc. oh yes: Current phones with USB-C [Buche] are even still sold brand new with USB-A chargers.

I believe so, but I bought a special power supply for my USB cable that plugs into the socket so that the phone charges as quickly as possible on the pad. But I see - we're obviously going in circles argumentatively again. The USB sockets were simply way too expensive for us. To pay such an outrageous surcharge for a single USB port on a socket. Nowadays, I can buy USB plugs with several powerful USB ports, so I find it more efficient to install a normal double socket and sacrifice one plug slot for a proper USB adapter rather than using a fixed socket with a half-baked USB port.
