Slight slope - Should you fill or build on the slope?

We have a plot of land on a slope and have arranged the garden in terraces. The house is level at the front facing the street.

The terraces can be created using various methods.

L-stones, dry walls, sloping,...

The terraces offer many possibilities for garden design.

Do you already have a developer or architect? They should be able to estimate it (reliably)

Remove the word "reliably." A general contractor estimated 7k€ for us, another 3k€. That then turned into over 25k€. The architect we're now building with didn’t want to estimate it at all. So we had to wait for quotes.

Neither an architect in an initial meeting nor a general contractor will be tempted to provide a qualified value.

yes, but one thing is clear: a purchase price of 30k and excavation work costing 50k-100k are not in any proportion...

...only a more expensive property helps to get the ratio right again :-p

Or the 30,000 are a bargain, so that it balances out the groundwork again Or there is no flat ground
