Ultimately, every builder has to decide for themselves what they want and what they don't. You chose an ETICS and that is your good right; another builder will choose a differently constructed facade. What I solely expect from the discussants here is that it remains factual; we certainly won’t get any dumber by seriously considering an opposing opinion ;)
As far as I'm concerned, everyone can insulate however they want. I earn my money in a completely different field. But the purpose of a forum is, after all, to exchange "information." And if panic arises because completely wrong assumptions and arguments are being used, then one should certainly point that out accordingly. There are definitely reasons to decide against ETICS with EPS, but building climate and mold, etc. are definitely not among them. Yes, I myself chose EPS because it was offered to me by my architect at the time as a solution for my specific conditions, although she had 0.0 experience with it. That was generally the case in my region. Here, except for one other house, none have ETICS because everything here is uniformly brick-clad (which is actually cheaper here!!!). Therefore, I was forced to research myself and deal with it very intensively. Although I am an engineer in another field, I am certainly able to understand and calculate technical/physical/chemical properties. If you yourself calculate certain things like water vapor diffusion of building materials, or study chemical separation processes of HBCD with polymer chains, you can quite well assess what statements from an interlocutor (salesperson, advisor, industry, panic-monger...) are worth. Especially in house construction, a lot of emotions are used to sell one's products/solutions.
