Nevertheless, I find this approach interesting. You could still rent out the granny flat when the children have moved out and have more space upstairs. I would have to have that calculated. Would a saving of an estimated 10 square meters of floor space enable the development of the basement for residential purposes considering our budget.

What I want to say with this: Without the income from the granny flat, the budget would shrink by about 100,000 euros.

And without the expensive basement, it would be a zero-sum game. Although the net cold rent is not what ultimately ends up in your wallet ==> taxes, operating costs (maintenance/renovation etc.).

Without the granny flat and only with a slab foundation (if feasible), you also save additional heating and ventilation systems. On top of that, you forgo KfW 40— which you would only do because of the subsidy—and the house becomes significantly smaller. Then in the end, maybe also without annoying (external) tenants...

Regarding building on a slab foundation, we first have to wait for our soil report. It was already suggested that the soil is soft and a basement might possibly make sense. The other question is how this relates to the slab foundation and the slope.

How many square meters is it? Depending on the area, 2500€/m2 might still be enough in more expensive neighborhoods or with better equipment, but it can be significantly more. In addition, there are the complete additional costs as well as the outdoor facilities. All-in, no more than 120-150m2 are feasible. (in the cheaper areas) So make compromises and reduce the size. Please write something about the financial situation. A granny flat is not worthwhile at all due to the construction costs. If strangers in the house don't bother you, an apartment might be better.

The combination of floor space index mentioned and floor area ratio not mentioned is "unusual", the other way around is more common. For a layman's planning, the draft is absolutely not bad at all, but actually relatively too detailed to only now check the agreement with the budget – especially since conceptual essentials such as whether grandma is moving in are still up for discussion.
