In the past, people just survived without modern medicine (Teufelszeug), without vaccinations (very dangerous), without well-insulated houses (the insulation is eaten away over time anyway by the worldwide woodpecker population) and above all without the internet, which has only made the lives of trolls like Farilo here in the forum possible.

Brief interim report: The 2nd visit is done and there are some photos and updated floor plans (my first attempt with Sweethome3D).

From the ground floor upwards, almost all windows are already in newer sizes. Probably not final. It might look a bit wild. On the ground floor, they are this large because after removing the old roller shutter boxes, only air remains.

The interior walls are all stacked. So we should not simply remove the walls in the kitchen and living room downstairs. That means everything upstairs will be removed and replaced with lightweight construction. There is a timber frame with support beams in the masonry - we will expose it and leave it as it is.

The structural engineer saw it quite optimistically during the inspection, but we are already feeling dizzy at the entire effort. It was already incredibly nerve-wracking that the bank wanted estimates for all costs. Please deliver in 1.5 days – luckily now it went through with the overall list drawn by the structural engineer.

Looks pretty good so far. And if the [BauIng] sees it exactly like that, then it's fine.

Definitely a stylish staircase that can be nicely refurbished. And the floor plans don't look bad at all. Of course, you can open the kitchen to the living room if you want. Then you just install a steel support system, or simply a steel beam on the walls (says the structural engineer).

You can certainly think about changes upstairs as well, but removing all the walls and using drywall probably won't be easy. But from the base, it doesn't look wrong and you can definitely make something out of it.

I don't have it in my head anymore - have you bought the house now?

I think it looks really okay from the pictures. Everything looks dry, old-fashioned but definitely well-maintained. I find the floor plan really okay, huge living room, big kitchen, everything upstairs is great too, big basement. You can definitely make something nice out of it.
