Anyone who reads the posts of is spared from tar-worthy and feather-worthy architects. Yes, you really can't thank enough for that, because it is truly very helpful. Essentially so.

Draw your floor plan on paper, preferably graph paper or squared paper. Draw reasonable furniture to scale. Don’t forget the inherited farmhouse cupboard and the storage space for the shoe collection.

Why do laypeople think they can take over the job of an architect? The budget is not enough for either a basement or a double garage. The slope will possibly require a living basement.

The children’s rooms are an example that the square meters are often just a number. The large one effectively does not have more space than the small stub.

Which staircase should go in?
Why storage room if there is a basement?

Staircase/hallway dark
all rooms are somehow barely connected to the hallway, doors squeezed into the corner

Where is the garden, the terrace, how high is the terrace above the current level?

Why do the entrance and the WC on the ground floor and the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs get the sun, while the kids' rooms for playing and studying get the shady side?

I have to step in here, simply because it is ALWAYS said that children need southern sun to grow. I had a north-facing room. I was RELIEVED to have a north-facing room. It was cool. It was not too bright. Yes, not being bright is pretty good at a certain age.

I need light in the bedroom because it is still pleasantly bright in the children's rooms. Especially in the winter half-year, one is glad about every bit of extra light.

In a room for sleeping? I used to keep it cool, and when gaming, light was disturbing anyway. Now I have bought the parental house, and in the bedroom with a south-facing window, the blind is always down so the sun doesn't come in. I want a lot of INDIRECT light in the kitchen and living room. I would want that in the bathroom too, but it is an interior room.
