I took a few minutes yesterday to watch the post in a condensed form. No surprises so far. Rural exodus automatically creates a buyer's market for real estate. Those who want to build there right now are happy. Here it is the other way around, and the buyers/builders/tenants are complaining. You can never please everyone...

Ask at some point which little town he comes from. Just out of curiosity, since I’m from the same district RW.

What I would like to mention is that mobile nursing services already do an enormous amount today. My grandma, at 97, still lives in her house. This month she will turn 98 and is too fit for care level 2 to even be eligible for a place in a nursing home. The care at home is really great, all that is possible there. We hope that we will also drop dead earlier in our garden in the countryside rather than wasting away in a home.

Unfortunately, the old people usually set completely exaggerated prices at the beginning because they factor in all their beautiful memories and the many hours of hard work from long ago. And besides, every week the newspaper says that "property values are rising"... The greatest chances of getting the best possible price are right at the start when the property is fresh on the market and curiosity is still high. If it's been listed for a few weeks and nobody buys, then the price pushers and bargain hunters come to view it, badmouth the house, and then it really starts. Originally wanted was 150,000, realistically it would have been 100,000, and in the end it will only be 60,000 - this is how it often goes.

yeah, pretty bitter

reminds me a bit of my parents who bought a house that hadn’t been renovated at 50, renovated it for a lot of money. Now they have an XXL house for two but both are sick.

The place was also paid off last year.

my sister doesn’t want to admit it, but both have a small pension. Means the place will be sold anyway because of care. If not, I already know it’s worthless.

In our rural villages, the customers say: "make last price" because no one wants it.

accordingly, the residential area is developing too, which also pushes the price down.

what's it all for? my parents said it’s so they have it nice. They never wanted to admit that a rental apartment would have been enough

Now, apart from the dilapidated shack presented on the main street, a nice property with a conservatory, a large plot, and well maintained was also presented, where the older people already know they might only get 80k€ for it. Where is that please exaggerated?

I would like to see you in 40 years, how your jaw drops when someone is only willing to pay 80k€ for your property.

The path is basically dedicated to those who have fallen for the romantic notion of "wealth building and real estate as retirement provision."

Almost every new path to building a house always starts more or less the same way....

- We want to fulfill our dream of owning a house => I can still accept that
- We don’t want to pay rent to strangers => Interesting, but we all know that this is short-sighted
- Preparing for retirement => This is addressed in the documentary. The result as well
- Eventually passing it on to the children => This is addressed in the documentary. The result as well
- blah blah

Many are so blinded by this that the reality is truly misunderstood! The more rural, the less of a retirement provision it actually is in the end.
