Dentist is quite special, I think there isn't even one in town here. And cancer or other nasty stuff, of course you look for a specialist there. But for a sick note, the village doctor is absolutely enough for me. Besides, there are many very good general practitioners, a large part of them are currently dying out, and the young ones might like to (not everyone wants to become a "specialist nerd") if the conditions were better.

...and if all else fails, we still have our veterinarian in the countryside. What works for bull and cow, works for you and me.

No, there is also a shortage of doctors for large livestock.

that will be recalculated again in relation to the income of the person obliged to pay maintenance to the total income

My girlfriend also drives 250 km to therapy. It is only available as a trial in a university hospital.

For sick leave, the doctor around the corner is enough or now it can be done via WhatsApp.

You all act as if you are little futurists. 40 years ago, Grandma Erna had no internet, only TV with 3 channels and radio. Back then, topics like globalization, AIDS, or refugees were unknown words. Hamburg was otherwise a perfect world abroad. Grandpa owned his tavern, Grandma the butcher and baker. She was a housewife and raised children. [Kita] was an unknown word. Life goes on and who tells us that in 20 years some strong regions will disappear? Digitalisierung 9.schlagmichtot

That was just a vague assumption by the owner, not a profound appraisal by a real estate expert, nor an existing offer. Not much of the house was visible, but at first impression, the price sounded quite understated considering that Höxter (32,000 inhabitants) and Paderborn (140,000) can be reached within 5 and 35 minutes respectively, the village has a train connection, as well as a daycare, primary school, pharmacy, gas station, etc. However, the report is already 4 years old. I also simply assume that the older couple, as young people, were themselves happy about the super cheap plots or houses in that village and have therefore not lived debt-free in the house just since yesterday. Isn’t that a form of retirement provision? The true advantage of home ownership only unfolds after the last installment is paid, and if I am done paying in my mid to late 40s in the countryside, then I have a clear advantage compared to the homeowner in the urban area who possibly has to pay off the mortgage until retirement and beyond, plus more free time to keep my property in good condition. However, I also hold the view that one must begin dealing with the sale of one’s house early on and not only from the day the place is completely worn out and one can no longer climb the stairs. But senile obstinacy usually prevents that.
