Uh... no. That is a mathematically universally recognized concept. Also recognized where socialism is least suspected.

Let's say you want to sell 10 houses and have 10 customers for that. They could each spend an average of 350k. So you bet on that.

But nine of the ten only have 100k, and one has 2.6 million. Then you've messed up, even though the average is correct!

From a macroeconomic perspective, it's not like one person simply builds 10 houses, rents out nine, and lives in the tenth. The numbers don't quite add up when you think about it.

The use of medians is a proven method applied not only to such questions but to many statistical problems.

(By the way, I am aware that the example above is highly simplified. It was just for illustrative purposes).

No, of course not, this is just another example of the inadequacy of the average. That’s why the median is used as a fixed point for such considerations like "How much money does the average German have?". And currently, among all full-time employees, it is around €2,100.
This means that half of all Germans earn €2,100 or less, while the other half earn €2,100 or more.

The self-employed all calculate themselves as being poor anyway

There are also industries where there is not a big difference in income because, for example, there is a collective agreement. And others like bankers, lowest tariff group and the investment bankers

No no... The arithmetic mean, that is the sum of all values divided by the number of the population, is the average income. But the most interesting is the income that occurs most frequently in the population, that is the median. From that you can infer, since you know the construction prices, how many employed people can afford property.
