Thank you for your effort. But we like square shapes less and it will also be more expensive because the roof remains and is therefore more difficult to adapt than simply extending the beam. We had also already considered a square floor plan but discarded it again. However, your other floor plan is currently under discussion :)

Yes, unfortunately that is true, it is a significant cost argument on the one hand. On the other hand, a rectangle – compared to the L-shaped floor plan – has a more favorable area-to-perimeter ratio. This can have a positive effect on the calculation of the heat demand and also make it easier to construct the new wall sections monolithically and to keep the existing structure. I would not let myself be distracted by secondary wishes, such as that a further garage would be easier to create with the L-shape or similar.

I think the roof will be quite something anyway. I would be interested to see what the cost plan looks like there.
