Renew kitchen fronts

Hi,

Nexus birch has no problems for my mother, the new version without the book frame. If veneer comes loose, I see two possibilities: poorly glued -> material/manufacturing defect or constant impacts on the edges (bobby cars have no place in the kitchen!), but in that case the wood on the edges should also dent, making it visible and having nothing to do with lacking glue.

We were at the bobby car age at the time of the kitchen installation, and hopefully, the upcoming driving lessons will not take place in my kitchen
Still, even teenagers sometimes make a mess, a veneered kitchen front is then easy to clean.
How does your mother clean her Nexus? Or you yours, I assume from your statement that you are not so into plastic, that you also have more wood.

Perhaps the following is somehow still interesting. On the Norwegian site, there is an Excel file with which you can reorder all Faktum parts. The prices are the same as those in the old purchasing guide valid until April.

That could really indicate a change at the beginning of 2014. After my last visit to IKEA NL during the summer holidays, I rather thought they would switch to Germany, because new Faktum kitchens were still being built diligently, and that even though only one front, and that one hadn’t even been set up before, was discontinued.

Norje and Ädel are also lacquered, so it would probably be the same. I don’t use harsh cleaners anyway; I just try to clean up any drips immediately.

Well, an annoying topic: the obsession with youth! But new wood is purposely made to look old, vintage look!

Thanks for your answers, now I will discuss with the family which front it should be. At the moment the wood team is in the majority with us. I still can’t completely give up on Abstrakt, because I would have chosen it nine years ago if the price had been right. Let’s see what it will be.

So I would say, anyone who will live in the household for less than ten years has no vote at all, and whoever works the most in the kitchen is entitled to a double vote.

I have also never ever read anything about problems with Abstrakt, although the front is sold a lot in Germany. Some time ago I took a closer look at a front, and as far as I could tell, the foil was about one millimeter thick. In contrast, with a Bestakorpus in walnut, it was evident at a damaged spot that the thickness of the foil was in the micrometer range. Unfortunately, Nayla has very little time at the moment. She might be able to say whether there have ever been problems with Abstrakt. If the foils frequently come off, it would actually be really stupid of IKEA to continue selling them with a 25-year guarantee and having to replace them constantly.
