I am of the opinion that a reasonable calculation does not always have to work out. If someone enjoys paving and still does this or that project after work, I find that okay. There are people who cannot/will not rest, who are busy and always want to have something "in the works." Especially in rural areas, I think, there are many such people. They enjoy manual and gardening work and take pleasure in the result. (Whether 30.00 euros per hour without materials as time compensation is appropriate or not, I cannot assess.) I think if people work hand in hand, it can be enjoyable and meaningful. In the city, after work one might go to the movies, a restaurant, a concert, or a lecture. I have already pointed out several times here in the forum that I do not know where the high sums for the outdoor facilities go and am really very curious. Friendly forum members have often tried to explain it to me, but I still cannot understand it. I hope I find the discipline to keep proper records of the expenses for our outdoor facilities and can then present the results here in the forum in detail. However, our property is only 567 sqm and I do not want any limitation towards the "outside."

And of course you received a proper invoice for that, right? ;)

Without a calculation, it is undeclared work. When budget and services are compared here, one should be able to assume that the same legal conditions apply. I also paved the old house myself. That cost me nothing except materials. But then I cannot say here that paving costs nothing. The garden landscaper, like the earthworker, has partly heavy machinery, even if only a van and some small excavators. The fleet costs money, as does the physical service. And they usually don't stay just one day, but often one to two weeks. I recently found my garden booklet again with all the data and prices of the garden facility. If I find it again, I will show a page

So for our 600 sqm plot in 2016, we had the following costs for materials only:

Gravel 50t and pea gravel 5t + equipment €2100
Paving 125 sqm €3200
Patio slabs 50.4 sqm €2650
Drainage channel €940
Pipes €200
Concrete €45
Cement €100
Plants and equipment €1050
Topsoil €600
Wood chips €200
Decorative gravel 4t €400
Rolled lawn 210 sqm €1100
Irrigation system €800
Garden water meter €140
Awning €3600

It's been a few years, but maybe it helps anyway. We also don't have a fence, only hedge and grasses.

Yes, however, it must be said that the terrace is rather large at 50 sqm, roll lawn is also a point that is not necessary, and the awning is probably more of a high-end segment. But still, everything costs money and does not get cheaper. So under 15K will be difficult at that scale, I think.
