Of course that works. For example, a pump with a pressure switch. It switches on immediately when the pressure drops. It is then recommended to have a small intermediate buffer, similar to a home power plant for water.

How much does a cistern cost? Or what can you calculate with if you have it done? We will be building into the slope, so soil will probably have to be redistributed anyway. If the cistern were incorporated as part of that, what can you estimate in terms of cost? I have zero imagination for that.

2k for the cistern with pump seems a bit low to me, based on what I looked up back then, it is already somewhat higher. I would estimate at least 3k for that. You also need gravel to fill the remaining hole. Depending on the placement of the cistern, crane work or access for the truck with crane is required. Basically, such a cistern with double the size costs less than twice as much, so it definitely makes sense to size it a bit larger.

ah, understood! Thanks for clearing that up! I actually think so too… Great, thanks! I can work with that. Somehow I don’t find something like that very nice:  I still have to deal with this much more! But thanks already for all the suggested solutions and ideas!

Hello Kati, my cistern cost just under 1.6. In addition, a submersible pump, a few meters of hose, and a water tap. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the installation costs, as they were included in our entire outdoor area. You will have to clarify that on site with the garden landscaper.

You can easily make something, for example a small wooden box with a flap. I also wouldn’t find your example nice. We will have a tap at the house, and I plan to connect 1-2 additional tapping points in the garden via pipeline. I’ll have to look into the details once the house is built, but if possible, I don’t want to constantly lay a 20m hose across the property.
