I am also amazed at the conclusions you draw, as if you had been there yourself.... Calculate sensibly, then there will be no nasty surprise for you either.

It was about the 35 m supply line here. It doesn't even have to be frost-free, you can even dig it by hand. And there isn't really much excavation. You spread it on the property.

But to each their own. I would feel sorry about the money.

That was a complete package with driveway and infiltration trench and terrace etc., these 35 meters were laid crisscross, also under the paving,
so for me as a layman, somewhat more complex and not feasible due to lack of machinery and experience.
But to draw conclusions from that that one would complain elsewhere, I find misplaced here.

My available time alone would never allow the project!

Yeah, I actually did that back then. But my father also has tractors and an 18-ton trailer. That’s not supposed to be the standard here. Do you think the construction worker makes a science out of everything? Sometimes you can be glad if the slope runs in the right direction....

The thing with the regulation of your infiltration trench is annoying, because it’s expensive. I was allowed to solve that differently at my place. Although I had a sizing for the infiltration trench from the architect, I optimized it for my geothermal heat pump and solved it differently.

But you also have to be keen on it. Otherwise you can only try to get good contacts through friends and neighbors. Or compare offers. I always call for larger trades and make an on-site appointment for discussion. Most offers were then fair and on equal terms.

For the house + driveway, removing 500m2 of topsoil, 300 tons of fill sand for backfilling cost me 3.5k back then (2020). I then temporarily stored 60m3 of topsoil 2 km away... it’s still there today.

Yeah, you have different conditions if family members have the machines, then they usually also have the knowledge. I, on the other hand, come from the other sector, the one that can/has to pay "these people" (without demeaning!!) which is not a problem at all. "We" (incompetent) must also exist so that the professionals can survive!

Regarding prices: 100-120 €/meter for laying KG pipe is within the same price range among 4 different contractors (from landscape gardeners to civil engineers).

On the topic of being into it:
Sure, I would like to leave something to my children that I personally worked on, but as already mentioned, if the time, machines, and expertise are missing, I won’t start trying to do something by brute force.

With us last autumn 43 EUR net / m. But then immediately KG 2000. I wouldn't have thought that [Köln] is so much more expensive than [Berlin].
