Private home, which insurances do we need?

chk24 says by the way: Balconies, terraces, as well as rooms not developed for residential purposes (e.g. storage room, heating room, attic, stairs or garage) do not count towards the living area.

It depends on which insurance you are determining what belongs to it. Building insurance .. usually asks for living area and for example the garage is not included. Household insurance ... asks for the total area of the rooms used in the house or apartment and for example the garage is included.

Now I had to directly check again how chk24 defines it for household contents & buildings. For residential buildings it says - 1. appendix For household contents - 2. appendix So it seems to be rather unimportant?

Insure yourself (alone) or insure through the [Bund der versicherten]?

Are the group contracts from the [Bund] always cheaper?
What are your experiences with it?

Does the [Bund der Versicherten] indicate which insurance you are insured with?

Damn, another 4 minutes to process. But seriously, what I wrote earlier about leaving out the utility room seems to be a viable option according to the definition. Since only rooms built for residential purposes count.

So my household insurance now costs 40 euros annually.

What do I actually need?

The insurance sum is 90,000 euros. Burglary, vandalism are included. Overvoltage, fire, lightning etc. as well.
Water damage, storm too.

Valuables up to 20,000€,

What else do I need now? That is enough for me.

As I already said: I have paid attention to sooting. In my job, I have already seen some damages where there was no fire, and with your insurance, everything in your place would be uninhabited, destroyed, but maybe your insurance wouldn't pay.
