Hi,

sorry that I haven’t gotten back to you regarding your questions.
The reason was a really great appointment with a landscaper who had very good ideas.
I especially like the staggered terrace very much!

Where has the pool gone? Even if it is supposed to come later, it should already be planned now because of all the necessary connections. Or is it going to be a natural swimming pond (which I would prefer)?

Personally, I don’t like a terrace like the one there at all. It’s like being on a display plate. I prefer it cozier, with some kind of enclosing wall or niche somewhere; I find that more pleasant than sitting so openly in the space. Sure, it always looks quite chic, but in most areas it’s rarely windless; with us, the wind usually comes from the west, so I try to arrange some kind of wind protection there. I don’t know how it is here now. But one thing is certain: if a bit of wind comes up, you are completely unprotected and will no longer want to sit there.

He planned the pool on the south side.

I agree with you on the wind argument. So far, however, it has been less of a problem for us.
I do want to look out onto as much lawn as possible when I am sitting on the terrace. Also, it should be easily accessible from the kitchen (here in the west) and the living room (here in the south).
Of course, a lot of frills are now marked or planned here that I would like to minimize.

As your terrace is planned now, it will be difficult to install a terrace roof with an awning. With the sunlight we have especially in recent years, you definitely need that. With such a freestanding parasol, the wind is very problematic, it only works in calm weather and that is rather rare. Even with a little wind, such a parasol flaps loudly and annoys.

Best regards
Sabine

Oops - and you like that? Such a freestanding louvered roof??? Honestly?

South is at the bottom of the plan, right? By the pool?
Is the corner window openable or can you only access the terrace from the right or left? I would make sitting areas on both sides possible. One grill terrace near the kitchen, one chill spot in the south where you can enjoy your coffee in the first spring sun or the last autumn rays. Even in winter, such a south-facing terrace where the sun cuddles up is nice. Sitting wrapped in a blanket in the sun is also lovely in winter.
And now? In summer, your brains will fry, even if you have shade. That would only be bearable if the roof is ALWAYS closed so the paving doesn’t heat up (and honestly, such a louvered roof is just downright ugly). In spring and autumn the sun is welcome, but I’d bet my head that you won’t want to sit there because it will be drafty from some side. From the kitchen, you still have quite a long way to the seating area, even if the corner window could be opened.

No, that would not be for me at all.
