Objection from me too our pool is this size and that is really big. You can swim a few strokes and if you want more, you can install a [Gegenstromanlage]. What I wonder: are there setback distances for pools? It seems so close to the boundary to me.

But it isn't. You place it at a corner of the house without direct access. You have to plan paths in order to get from the house to the terrace at all. The planting would be too unnatural for me. There is nothing homogeneous.

Really? 8m? That’s two trains, so I don't need to start with that. A small pool where you can sit to refresh yourself would be enough for me. We have something like that in my mother’s garden. It was also used a lot, and my niece and nephews still love it today, and my mother jumps in every day.

Sure, I find a natural pond nicer. I also prefer swimming in a natural lake rather than in a chlorine(Bisi) broth (just for your information: you only smell chlorine when uric acid is added – without it, chlorine is odorless). My opinion. Of course. But aren’t we all expressing ours here? Everyone theirs?

everyone should write down their thoughts here. I am grateful for every input
I also like a natural pond, but I can no longer stand the croaking of the frogs in summer when the bedroom window is open.
My parents' neighbors had natural ponds all around. It was hardly bearable...
Since neither my wife nor I are strong swimmers, a smaller pool for cooling off would surely do as well.
I admit that here, aesthetic reasons are more in the foreground (besides the actual purpose of cooling off, of course). Anyone who has ever sat by the illuminated pool in the evening with a glass of wine can surely understand me

I have never had such a hard time during the complete house construction as I do now with creating the outdoor area.
The path would at least be shorter than if I had the terrace completely on the south side. I can imagine that very well.
In the south, there is actually too little space for me. Also due to the neighboring block, the main terrace is actually ruled out here

Fascinating how differently people perceive things. I have sat in the evening with wine by a lake, that was nice – also because of the frogs croaking. What is so visually appealing about a square pool, on the other hand, is a mystery to me.

No one is talking about the main terrace, but rather about a cozy chill corner to retreat to when the main terrace is still a bit too shady (enjoying spring, autumn, winter sun). A small seating unit or two, three outdoor bean bags (very cool from vetsak), a small lounge, or similar is sufficient. Main terrace facing west directly next to the kitchen with a large table, grilling facilities, etc., pond/pool paddling pool where the terrace is now.
