I have already saved Synology. For my purposes, an entry-level model will surely be enough. Are there any recommendations?

I definitely want to have a switch with PoE for the power supply of the doorbell and camera.

56 cm is quite a big one, I actually wanted to hang it next to the fuse box. Our utility room is not the largest. Putting it on the floor is out of the question for me; we also have a water connection there.

Rick will certainly laugh; but with us it looks like this; the cabinet should not be shorter because the Cat cables also need their place; and a bit of ventilation certainly won't hurt

Is this already final? Connections for access points implemented? Access point for the terrace/garden? Network for the wallbox? Double sockets in the rooms? ... Just some thoughts. Compared to a 10" cabinet, you have a larger selection of devices or installations. For the depth, I would start at 450mm. 400mm would be too tight for me. It depends on what devices are going in. A removable side cover can also be helpful. If a NAS is to be installed, then 9 HE will already be quite full. For the patch panel, I would go directly for a 24 port one. It doesn't take more space but offers expansion possibilities. Have you ever worked with an LSA patch panel? It can be quite stubborn when multiple cables are terminated there. Personally, I now tend to use keystone modules for the patch panel. Mount each cable individually and snap it into the desired position. The linked switch cannot do POE. Whether a switch supports POE can be found in the technical data. A POE switch is chosen according to the devices to be powered. POE standard? POE budget? POE ports? Also consider that from a certain size, these parts have active cooling. Such a fan is not always completely quiet. NAS: I would also go for a Synology NAS. I have one from the J series and would definitely opt for one class higher on a new purchase. But I am currently out of the loop regarding what exactly is available.

Just mount a 19" cabinet on the wall. You will definitely regret the 10" claustrophobia variant. If it hangs under the ceiling, the depth is rather secondary; here I would just check how deep the devices to be installed are and then add 20 cm. By the way, the mounting rails are not directly "in front," but set back 5-10 cm, so you can still maneuver the cables. Then 60 cm depth suddenly turns into 50, from which the depth of the devices + reserves is deducted. With a 60x60 cabinet, you hardly ever go wrong in the network segment.

It depends on how many cameras you want to connect. Generally, stay away from the j variants. No idea why that junk even exists. The Value series is good, and if you can afford a bit more, go for the Plus series. I think for you it will come down to the DS223 or DS124. Depending on what else you want to do with the thing, e.g. backup server, file server, central photo storage or something like that. If you want to know exactly whether it will work with your cameras (which by the way should support ONVIF), just search for "Synology NVR advisor."

By the way, I would remove the links from your posts in a timely manner. People here are somewhat particular about external links.

APs outdoors are not planned. The little house isn’t that big. Or do you mean that if I’m picking apples in the 800 sqm garden, I would miss the mailman ringing because the reception is bad?
A wallbox is not planned. Double sockets are installed.
Out of pure interest: Do I then have to mount APs for the terrace/garden in a protected way? Do they withstand water and other influences?

Yes, the 10'' cabinet will probably be too small.

I have considered, since only the cameras need PoE, whether two switches could suffice and be cheaper. For example, a 5-port PoE switch and a 12-port non-PoE switch.

What would be the alternatives to a NAS? What about an NVR? It also stores images, right? Do I also have access to the videos via phone including live image and alarms?
Or can I simply connect a hard drive to my Fritzbox and have the images stored there?

My wife is not interested at all in all this technology, so the budget here is limited and I lack the arguments. I want to invest in security first of all. I (initially) do not need a media server or another storage medium for private data.

Meanwhile, the walls are plastered, so laying further cables would only be possible with extra effort. My wife would kill me if I chisel more slots now and make a mess xD

Thanks for the opinion! Will be a 19'' cabinet.

We have a Cat7 at the entrance for the doorbell and at two corners of the house (northwest corner and southeast corner) at the soffit a Cat7 cable each. Was that thought too sparingly? I have to honestly admit that this topic never came up during the house planning and I just tackled it on short notice. Of course, I accept that not everything is as easy or even possible anymore.

WB will come eventually (hopefully the house will stand longer than internal combustion engines are allowed ;-)

WLAN usually has difficulties with modern walls and glazing, meaning nothing gets through outside.

Better to plan an outdoor (POE) WLAN access point directly (Unifi?) -> notebook on the terrace table / home office? guest WLAN outside, etc.

As mentioned, rather take a Keystone patch panel and take your time during installation. Every mistake costs triple the time troubleshooting (especially without good testing devices).

For 2-3 devices that require POE, I wouldn’t take a 24-port POE switch but POE injectors instead. They can also be well stored in the cabinet (purchase price & overall power consumption is then lower).
