Basically, I agree with you there. But I see the internet connection as the point of entry rather than an external socket. Why should the evil hacker leave his dark basement - from which he can basically also access all "unsecured" houses - to roam the streets and first spend a long time looking for a socket?! The average burglar has no IT knowledge and simply takes whatever he can turn into money. The evil hacker knows so much that he doesn't even have to be on site at the house to access the "unsecured" network.

I have to agree with you now as well. What you say is true, but you never really know. Most likely, I would also assume the case that someone somehow knows you and wants to harm you. Whether just fleetingly, really old enemies, or someone doing it out of desperation. The risk is really not that high, though.

For your own peace of mind, you can use RADIUS authentication; it doesn't take more than 10 minutes of work if you know how.

We have sold the TP-LINK CPE210 multiple times in the past. It is a solid, very affordable device for 2.4GHz WLAN. It will probably be sufficient. If you are not satisfied with it, you can later replace the injector (inside) and the access point (outside). For the older versions of the TP-LINK CPE210, there was "Freifunk firmware." Only with this did we sell it or give it away as part of a campaign. Therefore, my experiences are only limitedly applicable. Unfortunately, the currently sold version no longer supports this, or conversely (it is not supplied by Freifunk with suitable firmware). With Freifunk firmware, you wouldn’t have to worry at all once the LAN port is mechanically protected. Alternatively, you could build a FB 4040 with Freifunk firmware inside BEFORE it. Then you would have peace of mind, but no access to components within your network.

I need a tip again I accidentally cut a LAN cable. Now I'm thinking about how I can fix it. I've seen there are adapters where you can insert the ends.

I have already successfully processed these here for exactly such a use case (cable accidentally drilled into): Metz Connect cable connector Class FA CAT 7a 130863-02-E. Requires little space, unfortunately quite expensive. Attention: Must be tightened well (up to just over the marking) otherwise no contact.

Thanks to you. Much better than completely rewiring the cable Especially now that the plaster is already on
