Instead of a room controller, I would simply make a button with a display on 140. I use the MDT button Smart 55 with temperature and humidity there. You can then use it for all sorts of things. Below that, at switch height, a normal button for roller shutters or for dimming, etc.

Everything is a matter of taste... we use and have almost no buttons in the house. Everything should preferably regulate and control itself.

Or, in my eyes, this is also the purpose of a smart home or automatic or intelligent home... whatever you want to call it... as little technology visible as possible and as few manual actions as necessary. To achieve these goals, KNX is very suitable.

That's right, it's planned that way, but I wanted to have a fallback, old habits die hard. So I also have the green line or empty conduits in all possible places. Let's see how it will be with the automation and a cat.

Each lockable room (children’s room, bathrooms, etc.) gets one, and in open rooms (living room, dining room, kitchen, hallways) there are slightly more in total.
this quickly adds up to this number

Hmm, I actually find it quite charming to have only one "control unit" and not have to place several buttons or similar stacked on top of each other again. Otherwise, I agree with you. A display is not necessarily needed, but it makes you extremely flexible. Without a display, I would probably have the rockers laser-cut. However, that requires extremely good planning and is also more expensive.
