We built four years ago, but unfortunately did not sufficiently consider our living area. Now we are standing here not knowing what to do. Wall color as well as the position of the sofa (Sofacompany Dane 2.85m x 2.85m) are causing us headaches. Maybe you have an inspiring idea to arrange this area.

Who are we? A family of five.

Is that okay? Or what don’t you like? Maybe some color accents on the wall and the sofa. But otherwise, it doesn’t look that different now, at our place (apart from the construction dust and the mess).

I don't like that the living area is on a platter, I find it more comfortable to have it a bit separated. Unfortunately, the floor plan can no longer be changed. We have tried so much in three years and nothing feels right. I can't even decide on a color anymore. The area faces west. If your living area is similar, how have you planned to arrange your couch and your TV?

Just like in your left picture. It’s a bit annoying to watch TV during the day because of the reflections, but firstly, you’re supposed to be doing something outside during the day, and secondly, we have blinds for that. Do you mean the presentation plates facing outwards or inwards? Outwards, you should have a decent hedge after five years, right? Otherwise, use a privacy screen (outside). Inside, you could place one or more room-dividing shelves. I had that in my condo because there was no normal hallway. My wife doesn’t want that in the house, and honestly, I wouldn’t have much space for it either, but who knows, maybe in five years we’ll think differently about it. In your place, in my opinion, there is still enough space for that, although I don’t know how far the room behind the viewer extends... Oh, now I’ve seen the floor plan. You have almost the same dimensions as us, only that we don’t have an extension for the kitchen but have to accommodate it in the left area of your open-plan room (together with the dining table). So if you place the sofa by the window as in the left picture above, you’ll still have plenty of space for a room divider between the sitting area and the dining table.

On the outside, we have privacy screening; to me, a cozy layout inside is important. I am probably standing in my own way by now. Sorry for the mess.

For now.. definitely rotate the sofa corner.. just as it is in the plan! The floor-to-ceiling window will then be free and the TV and plant can stay on the opposite side. Paint the room completely with a subtle color, the ceiling remains white. Place the shelf upright. Just get rid of those dried flowers everywhere.. they really aren't nice..
