Kitchen: closed or open? What room layout?

: Parsnips are great, we prepared them in three variations at the Christmas dinner with friends three weeks ago.

Regarding the comment on space usage in the kitchen/dining area, these are exactly the assessments I wished for; it shouldn’t look like it was attempted but failed (cramped) when it’s finished. For that reason, the first official act in the new year is to cut off some of the utility room, its space should be sufficient anyway and it can handle 30-40cm less (basically what is currently planned to the left of the door). Only the laundry chute needs to be repositioned. But since the structural engineer has only just started, that should still be possible.

For this reason, the first official action in the new year is to take a bit from the utility room, its space should be sufficient anyway and can handle 30-40 cm less (basically what is currently planned to the left of the door). Only reposition the laundry chute. But since the structural engineer has not yet started, that should still be possible.

Great! Take as much as possible from the utility room, the rear freezer area can tolerate much less.
Then put the fridge next to the other tall cabinet (beware, a side-by-side needs more space for the doors).
Then it will work out.
