First of all, my heartfelt condolences for your loss. A bereavement in the family can of course unsettle you, and then things just get left undone. Nevertheless, I believe you are mixing up a few things here that actually have nothing to do with each other. 1. The energy consultant did his job and must be paid accordingly. I can’t say whether his bill is reasonable. Whether he had to point out the details of the deregistration process to you, I don’t know. Based on the previous reactions, apparently not. So he is not to be blamed. 2. Whether the KfW funding in its current form was sensible or not, how the ratio of subsidy share to interest rates is, etc., can all be discussed. Also to what extent the double funding for the granny flat was shamelessly exploited or not. All of that has little to do with your application. 3. Due to the given circumstances, you probably were not sufficiently prepared for the application process, otherwise you would have known what to do. That went badly and is very annoying, but it is due to your circumstances. That’s how life sometimes is. And you shouldn’t be too upset about it. Family comes before disaster. Long story short: you pay the energy consultant and take it as a lesson learned, so that in the future you are informed and prepared in good time regarding house building matters. Something like this will certainly never happen to you again.
