Is an energy consultant necessary for KfW55?

I haven't quite understood it completely yet.

I currently have a general contractor (who is building the house) - he is working with a structural engineer. He is currently doing the thermal insulation certificate - he will also do the KFW55 online application.

Do I now necessarily need an energy consultant?

Good evening Oliver,

If the structural engineer is listed with the KfW _and_ you have commissioned him with a separate contract, then he is also your energy consultant and you do not need to commission anyone else. Prerequisite: Your general contractor and the structural engineer have no economic connection - beyond the normal scope of usual business relationships! So check your construction folder.

I just don’t understand how you can ask such a question *after* signing the contract.

By the way, the forum rules have changed; please update your profession in the profile. Thank you very much!

Rhenish greetings

Job has been added, thanks for the hint.

Not every house construction goes perfectly. Especially if it’s your first time building. The same was true for us. KFW55 only became an issue after signing.

Does the energy consultant submit the online application for KFW55 or the structural engineer? Or are these usually the same persons?

Regards Oliver

Hello Oliver,

Thanks!

That doesn’t happen as rarely as you might think. It just surprises me that you didn’t ask your salesperson for more information, after all, an energy-efficient house doesn’t come cheap.

That can’t be answered generally. With one provider the structural engineer is both, with another provider there are two different people. If you want to know exactly, you have to ask your contract partner.

Rhenish greetings
