Is the schedule for construction in winter realistic?

Yes, according to the schedule it could work out. However, you are precisely in the winter months with the associated risks. And as the construction expert already said, the topping-out ceremony does not mean the building is closed. It only was, much later when the windows were installed.

The shell construction is currently being built/mortared here as well. Some days work is (and can be) done, some days it is too cold and progress cannot be made. In Brandenburg, where we are building, there have been about 4-5 days so far when work could not be done. I hope that the roof will still be installed by Christmas.

Everything is possible if it is well planned and the companies cooperate. If the site manager only calls the window installer today, of course he will not come this year anymore ...

Sorry, but counting down the days in the calendar of other people or companies by force and relying on that is not going to work.

They don’t have only you in their calendar during these weeks.
And pressure can easily backfire!
Therefore, I give you the advice to relax and let yourselves be positively surprised if something happens! :)

Unintentionally(?), you speak a truth about construction engineering :-). But does that mean completely giving up on construction planning in terms of the chronological sequence and arrangement? Hardly! As in every serious project, there is also a schedule for building a single-family house. At least there should be. And it should of course be realistic and feasible. And maybe contain buffers. And if unforeseen events or changes in project scope occur, it must of course be adjusted. Whether the plan is feasible in the case described here can, in my opinion, only be very vaguely assessed -- from a distance. One would need to know the underlying construction schedule and the construction description. Everything else is wild speculation. I don’t believe anyone ever wants to be unexpectedly handed over their new house. Rather, a completion date is agreed upon and as it approaches, things are organized (the kitchen builder, the moving van, the renovation of the old property, the vacation, childcare, whatever…). And because you cannot rely on it (see above), in addition to legal and professional advice/information, controlling the schedule is also one of the unwritten duties of the builder/client! Only the builders of Berlin airports do it differently; they really get surprised then.

Bieber gets straight to the point.
The eventually pressing financing is an issue, but if necessary, we can still manage it for a while. As I said - we won’t move to a construction site, we are heavily committed professionally, my nerves couldn’t handle that ;)

But aside from that, one has to be able to plan somehow - when will the kitchen arrive, when do we start concretely looking for the bookshelf, when will the refrigerator be ordered. Worst case we have everything there but can’t put anything in place yet and have to organize storage somehow. Or we have the kitchen but no refrigerator. Also kind of annoying. A few days is always manageable, but not for several months.

Apparently construction is continuing now. Our architect knows our personal situation and has also given a clear instruction to keep us updated in case of unexpected delays. For now his statement is - everything is in the green zone. Let’s hope he stays right. :)
