Is the schedule for construction in winter realistic?

We also had great time pressure with our construction project. Honestly, I can’t imagine it working out by the end of April if the earthworks have only just been completed. You will then get fully into December/January with the shell construction. It does get cold then, and rain/snow are unpredictable. Not to forget the turn of the year, which usually costs about 2 weeks due to the holidays during which nothing happens.

So if not everything goes perfectly, it may be that your shell construction is only closed in January or even later, then it will never work out. But of course it can also work, as I said, no statement can really be made.

Our schedule: earthworks 16.02.2016 - 3 weeks break due to weather - foundation slab 9.3.2016 - topping-out ceremony 29.03.2016 - screed 07.06.2016 - move-in 22.08.2016 (but not completely finished yet).

Except for a 3-week weather-related break, work continued without interruption.

Because it is a bungalow and no intermediate ceiling is required, it should go a bit faster than with you.

... nevertheless, I would be surprised if you could move in before June - unless it's a construction site ;)

well, but according to your scheduling it could still work - the foundation slab is already in place. Then 20 days until the topping-out ceremony - which in our case would still be before Christmas. And 3 - 4 months are planned for interior construction, provided all trades coordinate well. Since only two companies have to coordinate here, one of which is from our circle of acquaintances where we can also apply good pressure, I am hopeful.

well, I will still be showing up here often enough with a hundred questions about all sorts of things and, of course, reporting back :)

Topping-out ceremony means the carpenter is done – you haven’t seen anything from the roofer by then; in other words, the shell will be open over Christmas in your planning scenario.

When will the windows be delivered? It’s important that the craftsmen can also leave materials and machines on site occasionally.

Acquaintances + applying pressure – I think I can already picture it :D

Rhenish greetings
