already binding. however, in the type = model, color, type of glass. If no detailed dimensions are described here, nor how it is installed, the general contractor is out. Especially if it is standardized

This is again a typical case of "I thought that..."

The "installation instructions" for the craftsman are your execution plan; if that is not sufficient, it will be detailed again by the architect.

How does one come up with the idea to believe that the illustrated installation is binding?

It's quite simple: Most people don't build often. Usually, you receive what you are shown. That it might be stated differently in the contract has to be read. The expectation of getting what a seller shows is completely normal.

"I thought that..." and "I assumed that..." are wonderful recipes for preparing disappointments.

The construction company is most likely right not to acknowledge the complaint - unless the low threshold height is found in the contract or a construction drawing.

Hopefully, I have only built once and am just being a smart aleck here. But I must admit that I benefit from this forum and registered relatively early (2 years) before construction began.

And yes, you also learn from such cases!

But you also built with an architect - so did we. After the appointment with the window manufacturer, there were of course immediately section drawings and detailed execution planning for the component for review. That may be a luxury (or effort) that you usually don't have with the general contractor - and maybe as a client you don't want it either. Sampling. You see samples there. Examples.

: In our case, the architect designed the house and obtained the building permit. Afterwards, we took over ourselves and decided on the solutions with the craftsmen either down to the product level or set clear functional and visual criteria, which were often implemented with the support of a construction drawing. We are building for the second time (the first time with a developer) and remember having learned something. There were still surprises, though. Just none that were bad. Anyone not willing to take responsibility for their thinking and actions should not become a builder. In the case of the OP, however, I see no reason for criticism or mockery. It went badly, but it is neither the "fault" of the builder nor of the contractor.
