Hello daydream,

no, I meant that I would already be doing the detailed planning.

And the detailed drawings are part of the execution planning.

Hmm..I think I just had a little mental block.

The architect takes the drawings/results of the structural engineer and creates the detailed drawings, right?

If the structural engineer is already drawing these detailed drawings, do I still need the architect?

Presumably, this cannot be said so generally, but I still don’t fully understand what the architect does in the execution planning, apart from printing the plans at 1:50 instead of 1:100 and implementing the specifications of the structural engineer.

Maybe to add: The structural engineer, our friendly contractor, and the engineering office work together very often, so they know what each can do and needs or has to deliver.

That doesn’t mean that everyone always understands all the details. And seriously: When the structural engineer draws, he definitely wants to be paid for it. Sounds logical, right?

My advice: Invest the few bucks, then you’ll have peace of mind.

Sure, I need the structural engineer anyway... no question.

But he will definitely want _more_ money for it if he draws _more_. That's just how life is.
