Although I now live in A14, I don't live that much differently than before, rather more frugally. Somehow I don't need many things anymore. For example, cars have become quite unimportant to me. Or when traveling, gladly, often, but never in those five-star places. You don't experience anything there. South Crete, 2 stars or three, at Maria's on the beach in the apartment, eating in the family tavern... we always experienced something, even if you have to throw the paper in the bin because of narrow sewage pipes... Agia Galini, Matala, Lendas, Plakias, these are our favorite spots. Very nice Taverna Romantica, Agia Galini. App. clean, good food in tavern, directly on the beach. No pool. Feel free to google it. Karsten

You, I've already been there... amazing vacation... but when was that... 1998? [emoji23] Only special people stray to the south coast!

I pretty much share the same view. Tried everything from 4..5 stars to 2..3 and found the latter not worse.

I can recommend Aigina to you before Athens. Small island that has really beautiful beaches in the east. Also very affordable and outside the holiday seasons even quite empty. We always go there to play paintball. Wonderful for a week’s vacation!
