Is preparing for photovoltaics in new construction sensible?

They are definitely very busy, so it may take a while before you receive a response. I would suggest politely asking the admin via PM about the processing status of your email. Regardless of that, you can already have your future system planned by the community there.

Hi everyone,

I'm jumping in here – I hope that's okay. We're currently working on building a semi-detached house with a developer. So far, we've only found empty conduits with a diameter of 25mm in the special request catalog.

This is our "roof situation":

I have two questions about this:

1. Is it generally worthwhile to prepare for a solar power system with this orientation?

The roof measures about 12 x 6 meters.

2. If yes, what kind of empty conduits should I have installed and where would be best? We have the utility room in the WE1 on the left side of the plan.

I appreciate any help!

Best regards,
Sven

Hello Sven!

With a northwest orientation, it won't be a top efficient system, but it ultimately depends on the roof pitch whether it is "worth it at all".
Are there no other windows, dormers, ventilation pipes ... or similar that might still need to be taken into account...?

Otherwise, just get a system offered or check out corresponding online tools that allow for a better estimation.

As for the empty conduits, I can't really help you, but with 25mm it will definitely be tight.

Hello netuser!

thanks for the quick feedback! It is a flat roof, sorry I completely forgot to mention that! Okay - thanks anyway! Does anyone else know if I should plan for 40 mm pipes or something like that? Many thanks!

Flat roof works perfectly for photovoltaics!
Empty conduits at least 3xM40

With a flat roof, you have freedom of design and optimization possibilities as you like ... :) Then +/- 10 kWp should also be possible.
