It simply also depends on what kind of rooms one needs/wants. The layout of the flair on the ground floor is very similar to my parents' house, so we immediately knew whether we would like it in reality or what we would prefer to do differently. For one person it fits with minor changes and you don't have to reinvent the wheel unnecessarily, while the next person would have to change practically everything to be satisfied... in that case it is obviously nonsense and you should rather plan a new floor plan right away.

This has now been explained to you here exactly as I meant it, and as you yourself also put it:

Anyone who is satisfied with a rather symbolic bit of moving interior walls without interfering with the basic concept doesn’t need to ask much here. For every questioner there are easily ten silent readers. Visible forum participants will only be those whose questions go beyond what one can pick up by just reading along.

That’s a different matter. The GC client wants exactly this "one stop shopping" regarding the building process. Especially the "individualists" who want to squeeze seventeen different dream house features into one design prefer GC building – because they believe they can save their special requests with the "inclusive" architect.

The "typical" Flair client simply doesn’t worry much about the choice of garage door cladding – which makes him likable but largely invisible in forums.

General contractors and individuality are not mutually exclusive

There are general contractors who can and want to build only according to their catalog, there are general contractors who build individually and have no catalog

There are architects who build individually and there are architects where you can see which house they built, as they all look the same
