The return from the roof can be fully financed and there is enough cash left for the markets. The return on equity goes through the roof. Try that with your broker.

After this discussion, the question arises for me as to which direction to invest in.

1) Build out as much as possible
2) Design the photovoltaic system based on one's own needs (as high a degree of self-sufficiency as possible, as described by )

Business model "old" versus "new". I believe we are currently at a crossroads, in case the federal government does not repeal the photovoltaic cap.

- we are currently in an almost identical situation. Bungalow, 28° east-west orientation and just under 90sqm roof area. I am currently waiting for three quotes. The initial discussions with solar installers resulted in: no storage (it was advised against). Postal code 067xx (between Leipzig/Halle). Above all, the FAQ from Pflanze initially overwhelmed me as well. I've been reading it daily for about a week now. btw. my tax advisor is skeptical about the profitability. As soon as I have figures, I will put it to the test with him. Requests for quotes are initially based on the "old" model / as much as possible. Curious to see...

Photovoltaics are not profitable enough. It's fine that there are enthusiasts and people who think the technology is cool. But from a return perspective, it brings nothing.

You do realize that you are comparing risky stocks here with a relatively safe photovoltaic system? Securities that can be sold in an emergency versus a photovoltaic system, whose investment cannot just be converted back into money? Comparing apples and oranges...

After this discussion, the question arises for me as to which direction to invest in.

Your degree of self-sufficiency is not a value that has economic significance for you or ecological significance for the community.
As of today, the case is in favor of the large system. You earn more money and displace electricity from non-renewable sources. Your own consumption share is also larger with a large system.

If in the future large systems no longer pay off due to lower subsidies and/or sufficient electricity from renewable sources is available, calculations must be done differently.

Our photovoltaic system is currently being installed. Statement from all the vendors contacted: "We are happy to sell you a storage system, it's a great business for us. But unfortunately not for you."

A photovoltaic system pays off almost always, unless you let them sell you the kWp for 2000+x€. We are now at 9.6 kWp fully fixed and finished at just under €12,500 gross. Yield forecast over 10,000 kWh p.a. with perfect south-west orientation. The whole thing discreetly financed for <1%.
