Is a floor drain and a separate water pipe possible?

No, that’s what I wanted to say, but you beat me to it...

But on the topic: wouldn’t something like that also be conceivable/make more sense in the garden?
Technically it’s of course also possible in the kitchen, but I can’t really imagine it.
Kind of like a faucet and a drain in a corner? Like a sort of floor-level mini-shower?
Are there never small children visiting? Robot vacuum cleaners probably wouldn’t be compatible either.

P.S. I hate cats, really. But I still find the technical effort interesting.

We had a drain installed in the middle of the utility room floor. It was absolutely no problem regarding underfloor heating etc.... so it shouldn’t be a problem in your kitchen at all. since a sewer pipe is already planned anyway. you could still tap water from the sink (just extend the pipe further..)

Drains are required in all wet rooms here, but I have already tiled over one.

I also love my cats, have lived with cats for 60 years and still do, but I have never heard of a drinking fountain. The previous ones liked to drink from the tap, the current one not so much, but she also spent the first years in another household.

Hello Hausbau12

of course, something like that is possible. Before construction begins, with good planning it’s also no problem.
Drain from the kitchen floor into the basement or through the floor slab is easy.
But a question: isn’t it a bit gross if the cats stay in the kitchen? I mean, they also jump on the countertop, and the cat hair is everywhere. I would find that a hygiene problem.

Our cats do not jump on the countertop. To be honest, I don't know why. They can definitely jump that high and even higher....

Hello Tolentino

then you have well-behaved cats. I once saw that at friends' place the cats jumped onto the countertop to sniff food. The friend lifted the cat down and continued with the preparation without washing hands or cleaning the countertop. I lost my appetite. And emotionally, this behavior is more the rule than the exception.
