How to prepare for a power outage in winter?

That's exactly the problem: If everyone behaved reasonably, many problems would not exist. Panic buying leads to shortages. Shortages cause panic. Consequence: Even more panic buying.

So far, we have always pointed fingers at the French because they produce so much nuclear power and largely burn this electricity directly. Let's hope we never end up looking enviously at the French because they produce so much nuclear power and burn it directly.

The French have just shut down 50% of their nuclear power plants because they can no longer cool them...
One should keep things in perspective. Just like with building material prices, there is a shortage, but it will ease again.
Steel and wood have already become significantly cheaper compared to half a year ago... the same will happen with gas.
No gas-producing country (except Russia, with whom we are at war) in this world has an interest in Germany going bankrupt as a premium price payer...

Yes, overall I can totally follow you on that, but not everyone approaches it so rationally. If people now buy huge amounts of electric heaters, then you really have to ask yourself what happens when they actually use them on a larger scale. It does worry me when I hear that the network operators have no sleepless nights regarding the increasing electromobility, but do view this buying spree for electric heaters with concern...

Which is quite absurd... because a fan heater doesn’t blow continuously with 2kW, whereas electric cars are usually charged at night. With fan heaters, I see, statistically over many millions of devices, more of an averaging over the day than with the 11kW wallboxes.

That all fan heaters switch on simultaneously and reheat is very unlikely. It is more likely that my neighbor’s heater goes off while mine is on.

I believe the main message here is symbolic politics saying “Don’t worry, you don’t need the fan heaters, it won’t come to that.” That would be my preference too... but if no gas comes anymore and my heating fails... and I can’t get a plumber... then it’s really bad with 2 kids aged 0 and 5 if I can’t heat the place... so I have prepared for that...

PS:
As a single person, I wouldn’t have bought something like that... thick blanket, bottle of red wine, you can manage...

PPS:
In my eyes it’s very questionable how 2-3 million electric passenger cars in the next years are considered no problem, but 2-3 million fan heaters are supposed to be one... Because electric cars are not all charged via the home photovoltaic system, especially not in winter.

France already had to massively buy electricity for heating last winter. Now even more power plants are offline and electricity imports are increasing. That is why we are still burning so much gas, among other things. The power grid must remain stable. The nuclear power plants are only partially offline due to heat and water shortages; many are taken offline due to defects like cracks. They do not know which of these can be restarted in winter. So it will be cold in winter there too, whether with or without gas from Russia.

A power outage for a few hours is annoying – it works. If it goes out for days and not only in a small area, public order becomes the problem. I am glad to be in the countryside. Somehow, together, people manage to get fed and warm.

and please inform yourselves first and then write.
Don't let anyone else believe your nonsense.

For example, try searching for "Ein Elektroauto ist kein Heizlüfter".
