How often do you use your roller shutters?

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in how often you use your roller shutters and how high the added value is for you.
We practically never use our roller shutters at the moment, and after the renovation of our little house, I wouldn't know why that should change (especially since the energy-saving aspect will then almost disappear).
So I'm considering leaving out the roller shutters (one less thermal bridge) and instead installing nice, useless shutters.

Best regards
SoL

My sister had the idea 15 years ago with her passive house. They got the roller shutters for free and have not regretted it to this day.

In a passive house, cooking should be allowed in summer, right? We have [Raffstores] and use them in summer against heat and glare during the day. At night and especially in winter as privacy protection from darkness outside. In the new development area, the neighbor's window is simply not far, and it takes 5-10 years for gardens to grow in.

Without [Raffstores], you’d be roasting in a well-insulated house, right?! Sure, you can counteract it with an air conditioner, but they make noise, consume electricity, create dry air, and don’t protect against glaring sunlight either.

We use ours in the bedrooms every night. But that is certainly different for everyone, what one "needs" and is used to for sleeping. We just like it as dark as possible. In summer, we use them during the day as heat protection. For us, this was also a criterion when looking for a house; without it, it would have been a drawback for us. The added value is therefore very high for us. But our neighbors, for example, do not have any and seem to be happy with that. So if you haven't missed any so far, it will surely remain that way in the future.

In winter we use them daily, in summer never. And actually only the windows facing the street, because otherwise it’s so easy to look inside.
