Hello everyone,

I am trying to catch the early worm and am already racking my brain about the wiring in the not yet existing house (bungalow o.k.).

What I know so far:
A small server/media center is to be installed later in the utility room. The network cabling should be done with CAT7.
Five network outlets are needed in the living room.
One in the children's rooms/bedroom.
I would also like to equip the kitchen with 2 outlets. The bathroom remains free.

So now it stops there.
I don't have any exact ideas yet on how I want to implement the whole thing.
Of course, internet is logical. Pull cables from the patch panel in the utility room into the rooms. Ideally use double-socket network outlets ([kenne den Fachbegriff nicht, aber ich glaube ihr wisst was ich meine]). It shouldn't be a problem with Cat7, right?

Only with the TV, I am totally undecided. Currently, we have IP-TV (one channel to watch and one to record) and are quite satisfied with it.
Unfortunately, according to Telekom, we will only get a 16 Mbps line later. IP-TV is possible with that, but when the kids get older, more people will be on the network and then I'll freak out.
So I try to think future-oriented and am slowly warming up to a satellite dish. But that would mean I have to have coax cables laid everywhere, right? Then there is also a receiver.
How does that work then? Can I position one receiver in the utility room and then run the cables star-shaped from there into the rooms (the kids will surely want TV too)? Or does each room need its own receiver and the satellite dish goes star-shaped from there?

So for the SAT: there are 4 cables running to the so-called multiswitch. It has 4 inputs and n outputs. So you need one that has as many outputs as you need. Relatively simple.

Edit: I would advocate for a dedicated receiver per room. It's already built into most TVs and is sufficient for standard use.

Each room has its own receiver and from the satellite dish to the splitter and from there star-shaped to the rooms.

Or just Sat-over-IP, i.e. from the dish to the splitter, which in turn feeds it into the LAN. I would always do a coaxial cabling...

: Why would you recommend your own coax cable? Can't a Cat7 handle the double load? Or does the signal lose quality due to the feed-in?

Ok, so the dish on the roof talks to the distributor, which is sitting in the attic, and then distributes to the rooms to the receivers located there. Understood.

Of course the cable can handle that (although I doubt that you are installing CAT7 sockets & other infrastructure).

But you also need corresponding devices in the rooms - a normal Sat receiver is always cheaper. Also in terms of power consumption, with coax you can work with a powerless multi... not much, but over the years?

I have laid two coax cables in my network cabinet in the basement so that I can distribute it over the LAN someday. So I have both...

No, first Cat6 sockets will be installed. But I want to be prepared for later.

Yeah, that would be an idea too. Just another coax in the utility room. Why 2? Sorry, I'm absolutely no networking expert.
