That would exclusively mean north-facing windows.

We have three windows and a floor-to-ceiling terrace door facing [Südsüdwest]. Light comes in, but practically never direct sunlight due to the substantial roof overhang. When the sun is high, it casts a shadow; when it is low, it is in the west or soon northwest and no longer reaches the windows, also because of the neighboring house. This is very pleasant.

How deep is your roof overhang? That certainly works well with [Bungalow].

No. Roof overhang, trees, awning, etc.

I am of the opinion that direct sunlight is almost always annoying, but nevertheless the rooms should be flooded with daylight.

That’s why the idea of “floor-to-ceiling.” I consider this extreme opening to the south, which is often advocated here, to be ill-advised. If you don’t get the direct southern sun, okay. But that is often associated with costs. I also see the frequent recommendation to place children's rooms facing south as disadvantageous without a proper roof overhang.

Maybe something fundamental about it: For me, there is a difference between heat and light. Of course, I don't want overheated rooms. But I don't want to do without the light. We personally have therefore installed a cooling. :P
