To me, it looks like a catalog picture. On one hand, the background doesn't seem uniform, as if the house was inserted, and on the other hand, the idyllic farmhouse in the background. I don't want to accuse anything, but it seems very unreal. Edit: I have to correct myself, at second glance it looks real. Still like from a catalog. If it's true, hats off. But I still can't quite believe it. Are there more pictures?

But not to the very top - the political elites in the (today one would say) "gated community" Wandlitz of course lived in official villas of socialist production. I meant in response to your question whether the Neckermann prefab houses, even when ordered via Genex, were Streif Haus houses only that I don't know whether the houses could be introduced along with a trained crew, i.e. (only) regarding the entry of the workers I am uncertain. After all, they would first have had to be screened to determine how system-threatening they might have been, and of course constantly monitored by employees of the company Horch & Guck ;-) The wall panels etc. were probably allowed to be imported normally, and presumably also without the embarrassing label "Gift shipment - not trade goods" ;-) Only how the assembly and interior finishing were handled, I have no idea. That the houses were only reproduced under license by a VEB, I don't think so – the incentive to involve relatives in the deal would have been too low. The products must have cost foreign currency in substantial amounts, for which they probably hardly wanted a product of "own" manufacture. I suspect most of the funds came from bequests brought over. The upper thousand less so, unless travel cadres. The intelligentsia was probably paid quite well, but not in Western currency.

On Wiki under Genex you will find a catalog page with prices. Of course, it's hard to say what such a price meant at the time.

Beautiful house, . Also very good photo editing – the sky somewhat brighter, the lawn a bit greener, the wood a bit more radiant, the lighting slightly warmer. This really brings out the character of the house. And this is how professionals do it for catalog photos. The photo of my house in the avatar was also edited.

The picture was taken by a professional who had been hired by the architects and was there for a whole day. He took photos for the architects' homepage. Of course, there are more pictures.
