oh yes... we had such dreams too. Basement (at least 80,000 EUR as a living basement in a white tank) we quickly crossed off. So we are currently at about 240 sqm and 500,000 EUR just for the house. On top of that come "little things" like the outdoor area, kitchen, etc.

The problem with us "high earners" is: unfortunately, we usually have quite expensive demands (flooring, bathroom, kitchen, smart home, etc.). In our first building considerations, I assumed 1300 EUR per sqm. Now we are at almost 2100 ;(

So even the plebs don't build for 1300 €.

Our first considerations were in 2011/2012 Even today, plenty of construction companies still tell you nonsense... that is, about 1300 and less...

Ok, so now I have to ask stupidly, what is included in the €2,100 from you? Does that already include the great tiles and the pimped-up doors?

So for orientation, here are a few figures for a small 125 sqm house without a basement. In the end, it will be another 40,000 EUR more.

These are pure construction costs (including incidental construction costs, but excluding the land) of about 300,000 EUR.

And the calculation is (apart from the mentioned special items) the absolutely most basic equipment without garden work, paving work, electric shutters, network, nice tiles or other extras like bus, satellite etc...

That means: 2,400 euros/sqm including incidental construction costs for a move-in ready house without special extras. If we had added another 60 sqm and a basement, it might have been about 200 euros/sqm less, since positions like heating do not increase proportionally.

PS: The answer to the question about his job focus is still outstanding.
