I think, however, that with photovoltaics you could achieve a certain degree of self-sufficiency with the air heat pump, right?
I thought so too, until I realized that I needed electricity from the photovoltaic system for the air-water heat pump exactly when the sun was hardly shining - in winter.
Or is the efficiency of the systems nowadays sufficient to generate enough electricity even in winter? It’s not about solar thermal energy, but photovoltaics, which is a small difference.
Does anyone have experience with this? The question partly arises from a suggestion to switch from an air-water heat pump to deep geothermal energy, and to invest the money for drilling and the brine-water heat pump better in a photovoltaic system...
