Garage is higher than in the building application.

I haven't thought about it yet, but I am happy to share all the information here. I don't know yet if it will be a separate thread, only if there isn't an older, different thread I can attach myself to... I consider myself quite cheeky and confident as a learning system. ;-)

So far, I know that I want a gate (not just a door) on the front and back, so that it is possibly also possible to drive through to the garden at the back. Also, I would like a green roof with skylights because on one side we have to do without windows and on the other side we want to do without windows. When you do it yourself, the costs, also for sectional doors and skylights, are manageable.


As soon as the scaffolding is removed, we want to start with the planning/concrete considerations. That can be around mid/end of July. At the moment, the scaffolding is still up due to the exterior plastering to be done.


Enhances or spares? I am curious to see photos because I can't imagine that a carport or garage enhances a house, but I am happy to be convinced.

We strongly hope: nice :).

It is not a free-standing carport in the usual sense, rather an oversized entrance canopy to be able to load or unload something dry even in the rain. Additionally, it also serves as privacy screening for the north side for us, where there is a very unsightly wall about 2 meters high and above that already the neighbor's house. We also want to place the trash bins, etc., underneath, secluded...

So it has a few functions and will hopefully look nice.

The 5 meters are set anyway. (Exceptions are regulated by the development plan.) As far as I know, every building code includes the 5 meters in front of the garage. Also BW! (Paragraph 4, section 1)
Does the building code have specific regulations regarding electric gates? I wouldn't know.
Maybe in your development plan?

So Landesbauordnung BW §4 Abs (1) means something completely different in my opinion. It is about having a place where you can get from the street onto the property. A driveway corner (like we have) is sufficient for this. It does not say anything about keeping space clear in front.

With us the BP says the following:

The building envelopes are quite generous here and practically everything except the field of vision directly at the street

Oops, I also got that wrong :) Unfortunately, I don't have time to look more closely right now, but then you are of course right!
