I absolutely understand that. For us too, one of the deciding factors was that there were only good reviews about it online. Even the seller had it at his place and was stunned in our house. At first, we doubted ourselves. Maybe only this batch was affected... no idea. There are no other bad experiences... I searched for a long time to possibly find others with similar issues. The solution is all the more understandable. We have now received the floor we wanted from the beginning as a free replacement. And the one we originally chose is simply no longer available. Maybe it really was an isolated case... we don’t know. By now, it doesn’t matter to us anymore, but after all the trouble, we truly can’t write anything positive about it. Maybe just lay out 1 sqm first and test it thoroughly. Good luck!

Hello, unfortunately we cannot recommend the floor. We built last August and decided on the Avatara MultiSense floor for the entire house because we liked the look and it was described to us as particularly durable. We still like the appearance, but after just one week we noticed the first scratches. We realized that the scratches were caused, for example, by wooden chairs (at that time still without felt pads), tiny stones that still made it into the house and then caused scratches through slippers, or other everyday stresses. What is especially annoying is that the scratches are very visible, as the white carrier board beneath the wood look immediately shows through. At first, we thought it might be a production defect in the batch and contacted our local dealer. He arranged an on-site appointment with an employee of the company Ter Hürne. Already during the appointment, our problems with the floor were downplayed. The scratches were explained with the interesting reasoning that the damages had a "mechanical" cause. Afterwards, a stress test was carried out by Ter Hürne with a leftover piece of our floor. Strangely, this showed that everything was okay with the floor and it met all standards. As a goodwill gesture and to close the matter, they wanted to give us two entire new packages of the floor, with which we are not satisfied. That was the last we heard from the company. Our biggest problem is that the feeling of living suffers because we always have to watch the floor and, for example, ask every guest to take off their shoes. In hindsight, we would have been better off choosing a cheaper laminate floor, like friends of ours bought, who also have children and a dog and still have a scratch-free floor to this day.

Hello,
it's incredible, I really got lucky!! Thank you all for your comments!

We chose the ter Hürne long country house plank walnut dark brown as Multisense and already have a sample here.

I don't care about the problem with the dogs, our dogs even scratch the glass plate in front of the stove. That laminate can't keep up with that is clear to me personally.

But inspired by your posts, I did a test.

We took the ter Hürne sample, placed a chair with felt gliders on it, sat on it, and slid back and forth with the chair leg. Nothing happened!

Then we went to the hallway, Ikea stool made of glued wood, without felt gliders, has been standing for years on cheap laminate without leaving scratches. Then we put the stool on the ter Hürne laminate with one corner (everything on the stool is rounded), I sat on it, once back and forth, tadaa! The brown layer is gone and the white layer shows through, just as Vanessa said. Unfortunately, that's not acceptable!

Of course, we did the counter-test with all other laminate samples from 10-28 euros... no scratches were found on any of them!

Ter Hürne is therefore out 10000%. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to it and almost decided.

Regards

Hey chief fitter,
it's insane. All the more surprised am I, like Vanessa, that there are no further bad experiences with the Avatara. It's unbelievable what kind of inferior quality Ter Hürne offers there. So always test first!

I called ter Hürne today and explained the situation to them. The lady was very informative and told me that you can have fun with the flooring, which is definitely not laminate, if you handle it with care. I believe her. I also thought it was great that she didn’t try to portray the flooring as exceptionally durable.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is low-quality material. Rather, I would suspect that this is a type of flooring that is made or was made to feel particularly good and warm, which it clearly does. But to achieve this feeling, you have to accept a compromise, the compromise of lower surface hardness and thus scratch resistance. That is my idea regarding the more sensitive surface.

I’m uploading a picture of my sample with a scratch here.

I hereby assure that I caused the scratch with an Ikea stool made of laminated wood; I did not use any metallic or otherwise hard or sharp object.

I see that completely differently. They especially advertise the extremely high durability on their website, I quote:

"Permanently high resilience
Durable surface finish

Floors are constantly exposed to heavy loads. Careful workmanship and high-quality materials form the basis for worry-free and intensive use at all times.

Avatara gets its exceptional durability from its robust and equally slightly elastic polymer layer. Thanks to the special surface finish, the floor easily withstands the heavy strains of everyday life. All Avatara floors have a moisture-protected HDF carrier with optimized moisture protection."

....it continues....

"Usage class
All Ter Hürne laminate floors and Avatara MultiSense floors® fall into the highest usage classes according to DIN EN 13329. We therefore guarantee long-lasting quality.

AC4/32

Usage class 32 / AC4 (IHD-W-467)
Avatara floors document their durability through the highest usage class 32 (according to DIN EN 15468). The abrasion is determined separately according to the strict factory standard IHD-W-467."

So you should be able to slide a stool or similar back and forth on it. What happens in a doctor's office where people come in with dirty shoes or in childcare facilities where the little ones slide chairs around.....

Not acceptable at all, I maintain that inferior flooring is being sold here that does not deliver what it loudly promises. I even had pink discolorations on the floor from a pink memo paper that had fallen onto the freshly mopped floor. Never removable again, as if absorbed into the floor. And they practically "dissolved" into nothing in the seams. Well, whatever, we now have a new floor and are satisfied.
