"(...) and the floor really did seem very sturdy." I worked on handling complaints throughout Germany for the only manufacturer of laminate floors 30 years ago, a novelty on the market. I conducted the market launch in Ohio for a French manufacturer and afterward provided training in Turkey for another German manufacturer regarding the installation and repair by replacing a laid (at that time still glued) element. Therefore, I know exactly what impractical promotional actions, which served only and exclusively marketing purposes, affected people and thus customers. Whether blows with a hammer (until then, only the effect on wooden surfaces was known) or open flame via organic solvents on the element surface. All impressive but nonsensical demonstrations that had little to nothing to do with the real material properties—and the practical suitability of a flooring element. Every flooring system has— as I already mentioned—advantages and disadvantages. You just have to know them to be able to make the right decision! Regards: KlaRa

I can report here from my experience with ter Hürne Hywood. We installed Hywood in our ground floor about a year ago. Positive: - Looks stylish - Has no problems when liquids get on it Negative: - Scratches quite quickly - ter Hürne does not respond to complaints About the quick scratching: Especially in the study, the floor is really unsightly in the area of the desk chair after about 3 months. I now have a plastic mat from Ikea there. But that was not our goal when we decided on the floor. But we already have scratches in the living room too. A wicker chair had no felt pads, which immediately caused scratches. Now we are afraid to do anything in the living room because we might scratch the floor. And unfortunately, they cannot be repaired. Upstairs we installed inexpensive country-style floorboards with a 3 mm oak layer. That is MUCH more durable. So far no scratches visible. And if any do occur, we still have the option to sand the floor. We regret buying the floor.

I don't want to offend you, but how do you want to assess the robustness from a visual inspection? How would you judge the robustness in the case of a tile or another material?

We also had the floor installed last year during our renovation. Since we have a toddler as well as pets, we wanted a durable floor. The floor was highly recommended to us and supposedly met all our requirements. I am now just sad about this decision. We had it glued down on the ground floor; the floor fitter already said at the time that the glue adheres so well that we wouldn’t be able to remove the floor without removing the screed directly. That scared me. Unfortunately, the floor looks really bad in some places, as if parts have broken out. I asked our seller, and the response from ter Hyne was that we must have walked on it with sharp objects. Neither we nor our son have done that. I would definitely not buy this floor again. But removing it will cost us a lot of money at some point.

We can only strongly advise against ter Hürne. We have been living in the house for 1.5 years, the ter Hürne Avatara 3.0 was installed. There are scratches, scuffs, etc. everywhere. The floor is very susceptible (we have such felt pads on all chairs, etc.). Feedback from ter Hürne is limited to "oops mechanical stress, we can't do anything about it."
