Laminate - why is it so unpopular among sellers?

Dirk Grafe has already said everything, it is a disposable product and you would rather not put that in a house that you want to live in for at least a couple of decades.

Of course, there are commercial variants that are very robust, etc., but the price then tends to move more towards engineered wood flooring or vinyl... so laminate is and remains more of a floor for rentals and not for owner-occupied property.

Nope. I'm not a huge laminate fan either, but in the right price ranges you can get it textured just like other synthetic coverings. I also find it strange to somehow compare laminate (printed resin-impregnated cardboard) and vinyl (printed plastic) against each other. In my opinion, neither are great coverings with very similar, rather inferior qualities.

Why does a specialized dealer reluctantly sell laminate? Because no one who buys a covering for 10-15€/sqm is willing to pay another 30-40€ for the installation service.

If you're looking for cheap engineered wood flooring and come from NRW, try googling ter hürne and Bocholt. There you can get "B-grade" in large quantities for under 20€/sqm (you just take about 10% more and sort out really bad boards). There are always 3-4 offers online, and on site you can order the entire ter hürne product range as B-grade in the desired quantity (incredible, but true )

Hello everyone,
of course there is cheap laminate, which looks cheap and feels cheap too.
I also thought a long time about which flooring to choose for the bedroom, living room, and guest room. After a long search and "feeling" I decided on laminate. I had already seen vinyl floors before, which I didn’t like at all. I simply prefer the wood look. And I didn’t like that "rubber" feeling.
Then I looked at parquet, but didn’t really find what I liked from the start... and yes, I didn’t want to spend 50 euros/m2. I know myself, if something happens, I would be very annoyed.
So, I saw the following floor and kept circling around it because I liked it. It is the one I chose, with decent impact sound insulation, which was not cheap either. For me, it is the optimum in terms of care, appearance, and price-performance ratio. And in fact, visitors asked whether it was parquet. And yes, it is textured.

Everyone has their own taste... I wouldn’t badmouth any flooring.

One point has not yet been addressed: Parquet is not unsuitable for underfloor heating, you just have to make sure when purchasing, as with carpet, vinyl, and laminate, that it is suitable for underfloor heating.

Something a bit cheaper compared to wooden parquet would be bamboo fiber, by the way.

By structured, I mean really deep grooves and notches, not just slightly roughened surfaces or slight unevenness. It takes more than that if a pet running at full speed shouldn't slide another meter when braking. I have only seen that with vinyl so far, which has millimeter-deep joints at the "plank edges" as well as deep grooves and is also less smooth in terms of material. Comparable to PVC flooring, only harder. You couldn't slip on it even wearing socks, even if you really tried.

Hmm..so the surrounding V-joint of about 2mm also has laminate...and even the fine structures are raised enough that I definitely don't slip when wearing socks...It might be different with larger dogs, I haven't tried that since we don't have one.
